The Control of Dogs Order 1992 says that all dogs must wear a collar, when out in public, with the pet owner’s name and address (including postcode) engraved/written on it.
Adding this information gives your four-legged friend a much better chance of being returned home safely if they go missing.

Your telephone number is optional, but we do suggest adding this information to your tag, as this means you can be contacted quickly in an emergency. You could also include any important medical needs, microchipping info, etc. 
You may want to engrave your pet’s name on the tag, but please be aware that this information could help pet thieves gain their trust. Initials could be an option if you want something a little more personal.
